Longtime Beaver coach Mike Riley is now at Nebraska. It’s Gary Andersen’s chance to turn Oregon State back into the Pac-12’s little engine that could. Andersen left Wisconsin for this opportunity, knowing full well that there’ll be heavy lifting to be done in the early going. Weber State wants to build on a season that started miserably but finished with hints of hope.

The Wildcats will have success versus a green Oregon State D that’s searching for proven players, especially pass rushers. Weber State will also boast the more seasoned quarterbacks, Billy Green and Jadrian Clark, now that the Beavers are breaking in rookies Seth Collins or Marcus McMaryion.

The Beavers will be able to run the ball with Storm Barrs-Woods in an effort to take the heat off the young quarterbacks. The Weber State D matches up poorly with a Pac-12 front wall that should give Barrs-Woods plenty of chances to get to the second level before feeling contact. OSU is also very athletic at linebacker, which will help string out the Wildcat backs.

Oregon State is ecstatic about the anticipated return of O-lineman Issac Seumalo, who missed all of 2014 to a nagging foot injury. Seumalo is one of the Pac-12’s top blockers, and his return, rusty though it may be, cannot be overstated for the 2015 squad.
