Neither Washington nor Washington State has won a conference championship since the early 2000s. When they meet for the 109th Apple Cup in Pullman this weekend, the Pac-12 North title will be on the line for the both the Huskies and Cougars. Washington comes in having won three straight in the series, and six of the last seven in a series they lead 70-32-6 all time. They also come in having dominated Arizona State last week, whereas the Cougars are coming off a tough loss to Colorado in Boulder.

If Washington State is going to pull off the upset, it’ll need better play than they got last week from Luke Falk. The junior signal-caller posted the worst completion perecentage of his career against the Buffaloes, as he went 26-of-53 while throwing three touchdowns and an interception. Falk missed last season’s showdown in Seattle due to a concussion, a game the Cougars lost 45-10, and will surely look to make up for his absence last year in this year’s game.

In Boulder, Colorado will welcome its second straight ranked opponent in Utah, who travels to face the top-1o Buffaloes team that continues to surprise the rest of the conference and the country. A win for Mike MacIntyre and crew would put Colorado in position to win their first ever Pac-12 championship. However, a loss to the Utes would knock them out of the title game and leave USC to face the winner of the Apple Cup.

The Trojans will end their regular season against rivals Notre Dame, as Sam Darnold and Co. look to extend their seven game winstreak. USC will be looking to repeat their performance the last time they played the Fighting Irish in Los Angeles, when Cody Kessler threw for six touchdowns in a 49-14 victory for the Trojans.
