College basketball’s transfer market has gained a major addition.

Hartford guard Pancake Thomas has received his release from the Hawks’ program and will transfer, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Thomas was the leading scorer for the Hawks in the 2015-16 season after averaging 18.9 points per game. He also averaged 6.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting an impressive 42.6 percent from three-point land. The senior guard dropped 35 or more points in four separate games with Hartford.

Needless to say, after such a consistent offensive showing, Thomas will be a hot commodity to a number of programs.

Because he is a graduate transfer, Thomas will be immediately eligible for whichever school he chooses.

That being said, finding a new school with a scholarship still available may provide more of a challenge than expected. Classes have now started or are starting soon, so his options may not be as fruitful as they would’ve been earlier in the summer.

Thomas played at New Mexico during his first two years of Division I basketball before transferring to Hartford. He had to sit out the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
