Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman Recap

    Score: Navy 44, Pitt 28

    Prediction: Navy 28, Pitt 24, Line: Navy -3.5, o/u: 56

And You Care Because … Pitt’s Qadree Henderson took the opening kickoff for a touchdown, but it was all Navy for most of the way right after with 31 straight points to take control. Navy QB Keenan Reynolds ran for three short scores on the day and found Tyler Carmona for an 11-yard touchdown, but Pitt didn’t quit. Ollison caught a four-yard touchdown pass, and the defense came up with a fumble return for a score from Jordan Whitehead to pull within ten, but Navy answered with a 14 play, 68-yard drive that took off almost seven minutes and finished with a 15-yard Toneo Gulley run.

    What Else?

    – Navy QB Keenan Reynolds completed 9-of-17 passes for 126 yards and a score, and ran 24 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns, taking back the all-time NCAA record for touchdowns from Louisiana Tech’s Kenneth Dixon. He also led the team in receiving yards with 47 on one catch.

    – Pitt QB Nathan Peterman completed 13-of-21 passes for 137 yards and a score with three picks, and ran three times for 25 yards.

    – Navy RB Chris Swain ran 27 times for 114 yards.

    – Pitt WR Tyler Boyd caught six passes for 53 yards, and ran five times for 55 yards.

    – Time of Possession: Navy 42:05 – Pitt 17:55

    – Rushing Yards: Navy 417 – Pitt 198

Game Rating: C+. After the opening kickoff, Navy had control for most of the game with Pitt’s three turnovers an inability to get the defense off the field a problem. Navy converted 12-of-17 third down chances and both its fourth down tries – drawing Pitt offsides on a key late play. The Panthers couldn’t find a groove, but that’s what Navy does.
