    Sept. 13 Northern Illinois 48, at UNLV 34 
    And You Care Because … Drew Hare threw three touchdown passes on the day and ran for a score, and Cameron Stingily ran for the first of his two scores as Northern Illinois rolled out to a 31-12 lead midway through the third quarter. UNLV wouldn’t go away as Devante Davis caught a 53-yard touchdown pass and Shaquille Murray-Lawrence ran for scores from two and nine yards out to help tie the game up at 34 midway through the fourth. NIU scored 14 unanswered points as Da’Ron Brown caught a 54-yard touchdown pass and Stingily put it away on a two-yard scoring run. 
    What Else? NIU QB Drew Hare completed 18-of-28 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns, and ran 14 times for 74 yards and a score.
    – UNLV QB Blake Decker completed 24-of-42 passes for 397 yards and two scores with a pick.
    – NIU RB Cameron Stingily ran 17 times for 102 yards and two touchdowns. 
    – UNLV WR Devante Davis finally broke out, catching six passes for 150 yards and two scores.
    Game Rating: A- 

    Sept. 13 at Arizona 35, Nevada 28 
    And You Care Because … In a nip-and-tuck game, Anu Solomon threw three touchdown passes, with two in the second half to Cayleb Jones, and Nick Wilson ran for two touchdowns as Arizona got up 35-21 and held on. Nevada got three Cody Fajardo touchdown passes including a six-yarder to Jarred Gispson with six minutes to play to pull within seven, but failed on its final drive. Wilson ran for ran for scores from two and 28 yards out on the way to a 21-6 lead, but Fajardo went to work finding Gipson from seven yards out and Hasaan Henderson on a six-yarder to tie it at 21, but Solomon’s two touchdown passes for Jones put Arizona in control. 
    What Else? Arizona QB Anu Solomon completed 22-of-26 passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns with a pick, and he ran seven times for 60 yards
    – Nevada QB Cody Fajardo completed 29-of-39 passes for 321 yards and three touchdowns
    – Arizona RB Nick Wilson ran 29 times for 171 yards and two scores. 
    – The two teams combined to convert 13-of-25 third down chances. 
    Game Rating: B 

    Sept. 13 at Hawaii 27, Northern Iowa 24 
    And You Care Because … Hawaii took a 24-10 lead into the fourth and then held on late as UNI’s Sawyer Kollmorgan threw his second touchdown pass of the game with just under two minutes to play to pull within three, but the Warriors ran out the clock. Tyler Hadden hit two field goals for the Rainbow Warriors and Steven Lakalaka ran for a 30-yard score, but the D started things off with a Beau Yap fumble recovery in the end zone. UNI answered with an 80-yard drive and a Kollmorgen touchdown run, but Hawaii took the lead for good with ten straight points helped by a 15-yard Harold Moneli scoring grab. Lakalaka finished with 124 yards and a score on 32 carries, while Ikaika Woolsey completed 14-of-30 passes for 188 yards and a score.

    Sept. 13 Boise State 38, at Connecticut 21 
    And You Care Because …Connecticut somehow hung around with Boise State, despite playing sloppily throughout. The Huskies made a series of gaffes and turnovers, yet only trailed the Broncos, 24-21, at the outset of the fourth quarter. Boise State, though, closed the deal with a pair of touchdowns over the final 10 minutes, capped by a Donte Deayon 50-yard interception return, the team’s second defensive touchdown of the afternoon. 
    What Else? New UConn coach Bob Diaco has a laundry list of things to work on in his first year. Topping that list will be improving in pass protection after allowing eight sacks to Boise State. 
    – It was a buy day for Bronco pitch-and-catch combo Grant Hedrick to Matt Miller. Hedrick threw a pair of touchdowns to Miller and caught one … from Miller. 
    – Despite getting battered from start to finish, Husky QB Chandler Whitmer stood tall in the pocket to help keep UConn in the game. He went 16-of-29 for 209 yards, two touchdowns and two picks. 
    – Boise State won despite not getting its usual production from star RB Jay Ajayi. Ajayi only managed to rush for 39 yards on 18 carries, while being a non-factor in the passing game. However, it was encouraging that the Broncos could win a game with defense and Hedrick’s arm. 
    Game Rating: C 

    Sept. 13 at Utah State 36, Wake Forest 24 
    And You Care Because … Wake Forest started out the scoring with a 70-yard Josh Banks interception return for a score. Utah State went on a 29-point first half run with Devin Centers returning a fumble 47 yards for a touchdown, Zach Vigil returning an interception 35 yards for a score, and Chuckie Keeton and Ronald Butler each throwing touchdown passes. Wake Forest scored 16 third quarter points helped by two John Wolford touchdown passes, but the offense was too mistake-prone and Utah State was able to pull away on a five-yard Wyatt Houston touchdown pass from Darell Garretson. 
    What Else? Utah State QB Chuckie Keeton suffered an apparent leg injury. He completed 20-of-27 passes for 166 yards and a score before getting knocked out. Darell Garretson completed 11-of-16 passes for 121 yards with a touchdown with a pick. 
    – Both teams kept screwing up. Wake Forest committed ten penalties for 103 yards with three turnovers, and Utah State committed eight penalties for 65 yards with three turnovers. 
    – Wake Forest was held to minus-25 rushing yards. 
    – Utah State’s Hunter Sharp caught 12 passes for 138 yards. 
    Game Rating: C-

    Sept. 13 at Oregon 48, Wyoming 14 
    And You Care Because … It took a little while to get going, but down 7-0 in the second quarter, Oregon roared back with 41 straight points highlighted by Marcus Mariota touchdown runs from 15 and 18 yards out and a 30-yard Byron Marshall dash. Mariota also threw two touchdown passes. Wyoming started the scoring with an 18-yard Tanner Gentry catch, and came up with a fourth-quarter 12-yard D.J. May scoring grab.
    What Else? Marcus Mariota’s Heisman campaign took yet another major step forward completing 19-of-23 passes for 221 yards and two scores, and ran five times for 71 yards and two touchdowns including a diving leap into the end zone for one of them.
    – Wyoming was able to move the ball a bit. QB Colby Kirkegaard completed 19-of-33 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns with two picks, and Shaun Wick ran for 122 yards on just 16 carries. 
    – Oregon’s machine needed a little bit to get going, but once it did, the running game was devastating averaging 7.1 yards per try.
    – How efficient was Oregon after everything started to work? The O converted 9-of-11 third down chances. Wyoming converted 9-of-17 and 2-of-3 fourth down tries. 
    Game Rating: D+ 

    Sept. 13 Nebraska 55, at Fresno State 19 
    And You Care Because … Nebraska hit two home runs right away on a 70-yard pass play to Jordan Westerkamp and a 57-yard Ameer Abdullah touchdown run within the first three minutes, and got up 34-5 before Fresno State finally got into the end zone on a 66-yard Brian Burrell touchdown dash. De’Mornay Pierson-El added an 86-yard punt return for a score and Imani Cross rolled up a 62-yard scoring dash in the blowout. 
    What Else? Nebraska cranked up 282 passing yards and 280 on the ground. 
    – Fresno State QB Brian Burrell completed 30-of-59 passes for 241 yards and a score, and ran nine times for 59 yards with a 66-yard score. 
    – The Huskers came up with four sacks and 12 tackles for loss. 
    – Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah ran 19 times for 110 yards and a score. 
    Game Rating: D 

    Sept. 13 at Colorado State 49, UC Davis 21 
    And You Care Because … Garrett Grayson ripped apart the UC Davis pass defense throwing four touchdown passes and Jasen Oden Jr. ran for scores from one and 50 yards out as Colorado State rolled to a big win. Grayson connected with Rashard Higgins on scoring plays from 15 and 52 yards out, and he started out the scoring with a 45-yard touchdown pass to Charles Lovett. UCD pulled within seven in the first quarter on an 11-yard Mark Martindale scoring run, but 21 straight Ram points put it away. 
    What Else? Colorado State QB Garrett Grayson completed 22-of-31 passes for 425 yards and four scores. 
    – CSU RB Dee Hart ran eight times for 38 yards. Treyous Jarrells ran 12 times for 84 yards and a score. 
    – Total yards: Colorado State 676 – UC Davis 379
