No. 4 North Carolina vs. No. 5 Arkansas

Why North Carolina will win: Harvard definitely got the Tar Heels’ attention in the second round, and it showed the importance of UNC putting together 40 minutes of basketball. Carolina doesn’t have an issue with talent – Marcus Paige, Kennedy Meeks, Justin Jackson, J.P. Tokoto, and others can all make things happen – it’s a matter of consistency. If UNC is focused on both ends for a full game, it’s going to be tough to beat. Paige has to make an impact.

Why Arkansas will win: Arkansas has the length to battle UNC inside, and it will be critical for forward Bobby Portis to make his presence felt from the opening tip. He has to dominate on both ends of the floor, and if he can get UNC’s bigs in foul trouble early, it will open the door for the Razorbacks. Guard Michael Qualls is efficient with the basketball and will match the Tar Heels’ guards step for step. If Arkansas gets big games out of that duo, plus gets a contribution from a third scorer, the Hogs will be in good shape.

What will happen: Carolina’s inconsistency has been an issue at times this year, and Arkansas is going to punch the Tar Heels in the mouth early. Portis will score inside, Qualls will show he’s not intimidated by UNC, and the Razorbacks will win the battle on the boards to score a win in a close one.
    Prediction:Arkansas 60, North Carolina 59
