2015 USC Trojans fall practice kicks off this weekend. Here is the schedule and five things to watch.
The USC Trojans will start their second season under head coach Steve
Sarkisian with an open practice on Saturday, August 8. The Men of Troy enter
2015 with high hopes to reclaim their status among the elite as senior
quarterback Cody Kessler leads one of the most explosive offenses in the
nation.
Following is a look at the 2015 USC Trojans fall practice schedule, including open dates, and what to watch for.
1. Who Carries The Ball? – Javorius Allen is gone, and he
takes his 1,489 rushing yards from last year with him. Junior Justin Davis and
redshirt senior Tre Madden will be the top two coming into fall practice, and will most likely share carries into the season.
2. JuJu’s Mojo – Kessler will have the advantage of the
return of wide receiver JuJu Smith, who was outstanding in his first year,
earning Freshman All-American honors. Put him alongside redshirt sophomore
Steven Mitchell and sophomore Adoree’ Jackson and the Trojans become a
nightmare for secondaries.
3. Replacing Leonard Williams – The All-American defensive
end might not be completely replaceable as a leader, but coaches are hoping
junior linebacker Su’a Cravens will help fill the role.
4. Battle for Three Points – Both new to the program,
redshirt juniors Matt Boermeester and Alex Wood will compete during fall practice to
see who will get the opportunity to pick up three points for the Trojans offense.
5. The Defensive Line – With Williams now in the pros, it is
up to redshirt senior Antwaun Woods to be the force on the defensive line. The
coaches will also keep an eye on the return of redshirt sophomore Kenny
Bigelow after suffering a torn ACL prior to the start of the 2014 season.
