In honor of #PrimeDay, here’s a list of the five best SEC football players to ever wear prime numbers.

You’ve seen lists with the best jersey numbers of all time, but that’s no fun. Here are the five best SEC players in history to rock a prime number.

Cornelius Bennett, No. 97 – The Alabama defensive lineman was a three-time All American, a Lombardi Award winner and SEC Player of the Year in 1986. Bennett amassed 287 tackles and 21.5 sacks over his storied career in Tuscaloosa.

David Pollack, No. 47 – His 36 sacks are the most in school history. A three-time All-American, Pollack was SEC Player of the Year in 2002. During his final season in Athens he won the Bednarik, Lott, and Lombardi trophies.

Danny Wuerffel, No. 7 – If not for Tim Tebow, Wuerffel would be the most celebrated in Gator history, and for good reason. The man was a four-time SEC champ who won both the Heisman and a National Championship in 1996.

Darren McFadden, No. 5 – Run DMC made things look easy, running for over 4,500 yards in his career – second all-time in the SEC. The two-time SEC offensive player of year and Doak Walker Award winner did it all for the Razorbacks.

Cam Newton, No. 2 – The polarizing signal caller took the nation by storm during his lone season with the Tigers. Superman went undefeated and won the BCS National Championship. He won every award he was eligible for, including the Heisman.

    Looking ahead to 2016 …

My prime number guy to watch out for this season , he’s an SEC guy and it’s No. 7 Leonard Fournette. No one in the country can match this kid’s talent and ability. Book the ticket to New York already, the Heisman is his for the taking.
