    Clemson’s win over Auburn wasn’t dominating by any means, but opening the season on the road in a tough SEC environment is an accomplishment in itself. Louisville also had a nice showing. Florida State’s win over Ole Miss capped off the opening weekend.

    Here’s a look at the ACC football rankings. The number in parentheses denotes where each team stands in Campus Insiders’ 1-128 rankings.

    Week 2 ACC Football Rankings

    14. Virginia (103)

    Bronco Mendenhall has a lot of work to do with the Cavaliers after they lost to FCS opponent Richmond, 37-20.

    13. Syracuse (81)

    The Orange held Colgate to 143 total yards in a 33-7 season-opening win.

    12. Wake Forest (75)

    It was a slog, but the Demon Deacons escaped with a 7-3 win over Tulane that featured a scoreless second half for both teams.

    11. Boston College (74)

    The Eagles had Georgia Tech on the ropes before giving up a late touchdown in a 17-14 loss.

    10. North Carolina State (68)

    Matthew Dayes’ 138 yards and two touchdowns rushing led a 48-14 win over William & Mary.

    9. Duke (62)

    The Blue Devils had little trouble disposing of North Carolina Central in a 49-6 win.

    8. Georgia Tech (55)

    Thrilling way to open the season for the Yellow Jackets, as Dedrick Mills’ 4-yard touchdown run with 35 seconds remaining gave them the win over Boston College.

    7. Virginia Tech (51)

    Liberty hung tough for a half before the Hokies finally put it away over the final 30 minutes of a 36-13 win.

    6. Pittsburgh (42)

    Decent start for Pat Narduzzi’s squad as the Panthers picked up a 28-7 win over FCS opponent Villanova.

    5. Miami (24)

    The Hurricanes boasted three different 100-yard rushers in a 70-3 thrashing of Florida A&M.

    4. North Carolina (22)

    The Tar Heels led Georgia with less than six minutes remaining, but Nick Chubb’s 55-yard touchdown run put them away in a 33-24 loss.

    3. Louisville (14)

    The Cardinals led 56-0 at halftime and cruised to a 70-14 win over Charlotte.

    2. Clemson (4)

    DeShaun Watson didn’t exactly look like the Heisman favorite, but the Tigers were able to escape Auburn with a tough 19-13 victory.

    1.Florida State (2)

    What a comeback win over Ole Miss to remain on top of the ACC football rankings.
