Michigan continued its Revenge Tour by walloping Penn State and the Wolverines jumped into the Top 4 of my Associated Press Top 25 ballot.

West Virginia made the biggest jump among the College Football Playoff contenders, moving from No. 11 to No. 7 on my ballot after rallying past Texas 42-41.

Alabama and Clemson remain locked in at Nos. 1 and 2, while Notre Dame outlasted Northwestern to move up to No. 3. LSU dropped from No. 3 to No. 10 after its shutout home loss to Alabama.

Eight teams on my ballot last week lost on Saturday. Penn State and Houston fell out of my rankings, while Iowa State and Washington climbed back into my Top 25 rankings.

    Peeking ahead to this week:

    College Football Playoff impact game

    Clemson at Boston College

Since Trevor Lawrence’s injury against Syracuse, the Tigers have been the nation’s most dominating team in their past four games – yes, even more than Alabama. In its last four games, Clemson has defeated Wake Forest, NC State, Florida State and Louisville by an average margin of 60-9. A loss at Boston College Saturday could crush the Tigers’ ACC and College Football Playoff hopes.

    Game of the “weak”

    Bowling Green at Central Michigan

The 1-8 Falcons visit the 1-9 Chippewas on Saturday in a matchup of the only winless teams in MAC play. This is not MACtion at its best.

    Stat of the week

1-9. Missouri’s Drew Lock improved to 1-9 against ranked opponents as a starting quarterback after the Tigers upset No. 13 Florida 38-17.
