1. Florida State
The Noles are going to get everyone’s best shot especially on the road. Survived again, and Winston put up big numbers–but had 2 picks. Defense looked lost at times but they are still the best team in the land to me.
2. Alabama
Were off this week but that doesnt change anything for me. Stingy D, physical running game, and solid QB play.
3. Oregon
Can move to 2 or 1 on this list if it goes off vs. Arizona. Mariota is playing flawless, and the D is tougher vs. the run.
4. Oklahoma
They can score 45 and have the best secondary in the nation.

1. Alabama
Tide has an offense to go toe-to-toe with anyone in the country, including Texas A&M.
2. Oklahoma
A strong D and and an ever stronger running game make Sooners the team to beat in the Big 12.
3. Florida State
New week, new set of problems for the increasingly vulnerable ‘Noles.
4. Oregon
Ducks in the playoff quartet … but barely. They need to fix the defense and the O-line as soon as possible.

1. Texas A&M
The Aggies got a monster comeback win over Arkansas. Along with the win at Arkansas that is two nice ones. What a challenge this week in Starkville.
2. Alabama
The open date came at a great time for the Crimson Tide, as they head to Ole Miss. Alabama’s offense is extremely explosive. There will be some talent in the grove.
3. Oklahoma
Boomer Sooner has some juice. This is Bob Stoops best team since Oklahoma lost to Florida for the 2008 national championship.
4. Auburn
Wins over Arkansas and Kansas State are very impressive. Check out Auburn’s next six games. That is a big time gauntlet.

1. Florida State
That’s Winston the Heisman winner in the second half against NC State.
2. Oklahoma
Coming off bye week with big road test Saturday at TCU.
3. Oregon
Bye week, but there’s a late night showcase this week to test just how good the team is.
4. Alabama
Bye week … it’s Prove It time at Ole Miss

1. Florida State
Pretty much the same thing I said last week…the Seminoles hold onto the No. 1 spot by the slimmest of margins. FSU has problems, and it wouldn’t take much for someone to figure out how to exploit them.
2. Auburn
Auburn continues to do well, but they enter the meat of their schedule this week. Time to see what they’re really made of.
3. Oregon
Oregon had a bye this week, but it has Arizona up next on Thursday night and UCLA the following week.
4. Texas A&M
The Aggies finally had their first real challenge of the season. They showed incredible resolve in a game where it would have been easy to cave and lose.

1. Alabama
Ole Miss will test the Tide secondary, but the Bama O will score at will.
2. Oregon
I need to see the Ducks throttle an overrated Arizona if they want to stay this high.
3. Oklahoma
I’m still not sold, but in the absence of other options, I’ll go with the team that looks this strong.
4. Texas A&M
The Arkansas win was better than you think.

1. Oklahoma
Two teams — the Sooners and Alabama — stand above all the others right now. Only two teams are so balanced and so versatile. I’m going to continue to break the tie between them with the priceless vibes OU created for itself in the Sugar Bowl.
2. Alabama
There’s so much talk, and rightly so, about the SEC West, which is better, all by itself, than most of the major conferences. It’s still the Tide’s to lose, though. Saturday at Ole Miss could get hairy; after that, the schedule is a real plus.
3. Florida State
Give the Seminoles credit for doing what they had to do offensively to win at N.C. State. Pretty obvious this team misses Jeremy Pruitt, though. Yo, Jimbo, get your guys motivated to play, will ya?
4. Oregon
Oct. 11 at UCLA looms extra-large, but the Ducks can’t overlook Arizona on Saturday. And they won’t, not after the Wildcats kicked them in their beaks last year in Tucson.

1. Alabama
Although they did not play a game this week, I am still confident that with their defense and the play of senior QB Sims they are the best team in the country.
2. Oklahoma
Another team on a bye, Oklahoma’s high-powered offense leaves no doubt in my mind that they could beat nearly any team in the country not coached by Nick Saban.
3. Oregon
Everyone will get to see the greatness that is Marcus Mariota when they play Arizona Thursday night and will figure out why he is going to be the 1st pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
4. Florida State
Florida State continued their trend of starting slowly and winning with a dramatic comeback, but their defense was far from great and Winston made a few mistakes that he would not be able to get away with against a top team.

1. Oklahoma
I finally gave in and dropped Florida State from the top spot. Welcome to No. 1, Sooners. Enjoy it while it lasts.
2. Florida State
The Noles ended up winning a conference road game over a previously unbeaten team by 15 points. They just haven’t looked like a No. 1 team all season.
3. Alabama
The schedule is about to get tough for the Crimson Tide, including actual road games! What a concept!
4. Oklahoma
We’re two weeks away from the Pac-12 Game of the Year: Oregon at UCLA. It could be the first of two.

First road game is a big one. The Grove will be hopping. Chance for the Tide to make a statement in Oxford.
2. Oregon
Battle of unbeatens Thursday at Autzen. Solomon and Wildcats will need an even bigger miracle this time to knock off the Ducks.
3. Florida State
Another escape by the Noles, this time with Jameis. They shouldn’t have that problem against the Demon Deacons.
4. Oklahoma
Another battle of unbeatens in Fort Worth. In three games, Frogs’ D has given up only one rushing TD and one passing TD

1. Oregon
With so many unbeatens I look for the team with the “best win” to put on top. It has been Texas A&M but their South Carolina victory has lost luster while Oregon’s takedown of Michigan State gets better with time.
2. Texas A&M
Just when you thought they’d be exposed, they show some moxie. Until Kevin & Kenny lose, they’ve got to be in the top four.
3. Baylor
For weeks I’ve been the only CI voter with the Bears in my top four. I know they don’t have a signature win but this is offense is sick!
4. Florida State
20-game win streak keeps them in the final playoff spot but they are pushing their luck. Auburn & Oklahoma closing fast…

Dominating Defense … a week off to get Zach Sanchez fully healed and Keith Fords potential return by the Texas game. The defensive line will likely get more depth with the return of Charles Walker and an extra week to prepare for TCU. This will be a stern test for the Sooners on Saturday against TCU, but with Florida State not playing its best ball we finally move the Sooners up to Number One.
2. Alabama
Same pretty much as last week. Huge match-up looming against Ole Miss in what will amount to the first true road challenge of the season for the Tide. If Bama takes care of Ole Miss like they did Florida that #1 spot could definitely be there for the taking.
3. Oregon
Off a bye another week to prepare for a tough stretch that includes 2 games in 9 days. The UCLA match-up looms huge on the 11th but don’t count out Arizona as a potential spolier.
4. Florida State
We finally dropped the Seminoles but maybe it is completely unfiar. They did what they had to do and won on the road. Period end of story. Unfortuntaely the lack of “sizzle” in the win and a poor performance even without Jameis finally led me to move down the Seminoles.

1. Texas A&M
Great teams find ways to win even when they don’t play their best. Through five weeks, Kevin Sumlin’s team is playing at a higher level than any other program in the country. The offense is Manziel good. The defense is significantly better than last year; not to mention, they really are fun to watch. If nothing else, they score the top spot on style points.
2. Oregon
Another fun team to watch. We know the Ducks can score. We know they have a Heisman worthy quarterback. And since the Michigan State game, we’ve learned there’s a defense in Eugene too.
3. Alabama
Possibly the most complete team in America. Super star receiver, phenomenal backfield, and yes, the best defense in America… and they’re only getting better.
4. Oklahoma
Sooners can brag (?) about wins over Tennessee and West Virginia. In this voter’s mind, they earn the coveted #4 spot by default over an unconvincing Florida State team and a Baylor squad that won’t face a legit test until October 11th against TCU. Wait… does that mean TCU is more legit than Texas? Boy, times have changed.

1. Florida State
I continue to say it – the defending national champions will remain in my top spot until they falter. Winning games in their position is all that really matters. And when a defending national champion falls behind and still manages to be undefeated at the end of the ballgame, that warrants respect.
2. Auburn
I continue to say it – the defending national champions of the best conference in the land will remain in my second spot until they falter. Things start to get very interesting this week. The home crowd on The Plains will play a major factor in the matchup against Les Miles and his bunch.
3. Oregon
The Ducks didn’t have their most impressive performance in Pullman – but Pullman does funny things to teams. Marcus Mariota and Co should be able to handle Arizona this week – and the matchup with UCLA the following week is hard to not peek ahead to as a fan…
4. Oklahoma
The Sooners are still in the best position of any of these juggernauts to run the table. But, the next few weeks will prove to be a vital stretch – TCU, Texas, and Kansas State. Get through that stretch and then the focus turns to Nov 8th when Baylor comes to town.
