Dabo Swinney Wasn’t Happy With ‘Clemsoning’ Question From Reporter

Dabo Swinney was asked by a reporter about "Clemsoning" ahead of the FSU game, and he wasn't happy to say the least.

Dabo Swinney and “Clemsoning” just don’t mix anymore. The head coach of the Clemson Tigers was not pleased when a reporter asked him about it on Wednesday.

For those of you who don’t remember, or have never heard of the term, have no fear. Urban Dictionary is here to explain.

But, to save you a little time, it’s a noun that is used when someone delivers “an inexplicably disappointing performance, usually within the context of a college football season.”

How did Swinney respond when asked about it? Let’s just say he had more important things to discuss, like the upcoming game against FSU.

“The last thing I’m worried about is some anti-Clemson faction. It’s a shame you asked me the question,” Swinney said. “I don’t know why people keep asking questions about this.”

This isn’t the first time that Swinney has gone off after being asked about the term that shall not be named. Less than a month ago he had a similar response.

“I tell you how they feel about it. They don’t like it. It’s a lack of respect. It’s not doing your homework and paying attention to what reality is,” Swinney said. “Should not be asked that question. Period. That’s how we feel about it. This football team right here has earned the respect. Ain’t nobody giving us anything. Not one ounce of anything. They’ve earned everything they got.”

One thing is for sure, if Clemson beats Florida State on Saturday, which would be the Tigers’ first win against FSU since 2011, anyone who asked Swinney about that anti-word of endearment won’t be invited to the coach’s pizza party in Memorial Stadium — should Clemson make it into the College Football Playoff.
