    Miami vs. FAMU Storyline

New Miami head coach Mark Richt inherited one of the nation’s best quarterbacks in Brad Kaaya, who has logged consecutive 3,000-yard passing seasons, as well as the lethal running back tandem of Mark Walton and Joseph Yearby. The Miami alumnus averaged 9.7 victories per season over his 15 years at Georgia, so the ‘Canes are in good hands as they try to win that elusive first ACC crown.

The Rattlers, meanwhile, are coming off of an offseason in which they were unable to conduct a spring practice session because of APR issues. So second-year head coach Alex Wood has his work cut out for him if he wants to halt the program’s streak of four straight losing seasons. Sixteen starters do return, though, and FAMU went the JUCO route to plug some holes.

    FAMU offense vs. Miami’s 4-3

While a good portion of teams use a base 4-3, the ‘Canes are actually switching over from the 3-4 they employed under Al Golden to a 4-3 scheme that they will run under new coordinator Manny Diaz. The ‘Canes finished No. 105 in tackles for loss last season, so Diaz is looking to mold a more explosive unit.
