Two-Pointers
76ers +3 @ Celtics (-105): There can be a lot said for the off-court issues the Celtics have faced this past month regarding head coach Ime Udoka and his suspension. Add in the loss of big man Robert Williams and my confidence surrounding the Celtics to start the season is shaky at best.
For Philly, Joel Embiid should absolutely FEAST tonight without Williams. Sure, James Harden is almost a shell of his old self, but his passing remains top notch and the pick-and-roll game between him and Embiid is stellar. Honestly, I just really like the 76ers this season.
Jayson Tatum Over 7.5 Rebounds (+100): The man is a vacuum, especially against Philly. Tatum averaged eight rebounds a game last season, and against the 76ers he averaged 12 rebounds in four games. Something about playing Philly wakes Tatum up, and now without Robert Williams’ rebounding, there should be plenty of opportunities for him to grab boards.
Warriors 3Q -2.5 (-110): This was a bet made famous last year because of its success, as the Warriors led the league with a third-quarter scoring margin at +2.7 and also had an insane +16.7 NET rating in the third quarter at home. Maybe they’ll have a slow start with the ring ceremony and championship festivities, but the start of the second half is where Golden State has thrived, so we might as well take a dip in the same pool again.
Three-Pointers
Steph Curry Over 22.5 Points (-110): Primetime Steph to start the season? Oh, yes. The man is coming back to defend his title, and he’s facing one of the league’s worst defenses from last season. The Lakers gave up the 12th-most three-pointers last season, and we all know what Steph can do from downtown. Plus, he averaged 25 points a game against LA last season. When the lights shine the brightest — and don’t forget he’s playing LeBron and Co. — the MVP shows up.
