Here at Campus Insiders we like to bring some reasoning to the Madness in March and keep you up to date on what to expect. These are three teams that need to dial up the effort if they hope to punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

At this moment they are on the outside looking in:

    Illinois

Losers of four of their last five, the Illini’s time to panic is now. At 13-9, things don’t look good in Champaign, however there are some opportunities to strengthen the resume ahead: Wisconsin, a pair of games against Northwestern, and Michigan State still remain on schedule. Get three of four and the outlook complete changes. With Malcolm Hill on your side, anything is possible.

    NC State

This team is heartbreaking to watch. It’s like rooting for Lamar Odom. You think both are gonna have that breakthrough – Wolfpack beating Duke, Odom returning to Khloe – but then reality smacks you in the face, and NC State loses by 25 at Louisville. NC State has some quality wins against Virginia Tech and Duke, but this team must add to it. Plenty of opportunities remain in the incredibly deep ACC, but its gonna be on the great Dennis Smith Jr. to get it done.

    Kansas State

A recent win over West Virginia gives the Wildcats reason for optimism, but they can’t seem to find consistency. Losers of their last two, Kansas State has to get back to winning. How about this for a tough slate on the horizon? Home against TCU, at Baylor, home against Kansas, and then finishing at West Virginia. That stretch is make or break for Kansas State.
