    Nebraska vs. Wyoming Game Preview

When: Saturday, Sept. 10 – Noon ET

    Where: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, Neb.
    Broadcast: ESPN2
The touching tribute for late punter Sam Foltz brought tears to many eyes at Memorial Stadium. Then the Huskers went out and dominated Fresno State as they hope to prove they should be considered contenders in the Big Ten West with a 43-10 win.
Nebraska shouldn’t be looking past Wyoming, though. The Cowboys knocked off MAC power Northern Illinois late – very late – Saturday night, scoring toward the end of regulation before winning 40-34 in double overtime.

    What To Know About Nebraska

The Cornhuskers weren’t satisfied with last year’s 6-7 record and showed it in their opener, finishing with 406 yards of offense and holding Fresno State scoreless in the second half. Tommy Armstrong Jr. needed to throw only 10 passes as Nebraska rushed 51 times for 292 yards, including two touchdowns apiece from Armstrong and Devine Ozigbo. The Huskers got what they expected from their defense and seem to be continuing their tradition of a run-heavy offensive scheme, but Armstrong’s 57-yard touchdown pass to Alonzo Moore showed they can be dangerous in the passing game when needed.

    What to Know About Wyoming

Josh Allen is just as big of a dual threat as Armstrong. Allen threw for 245 yards and two scores while also adding 70 and another touchdown on the ground against the Huskies. Wyoming has plenty of balance on that side of the ball, too, as Brian Hill ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns while Tanner Gentry and Jake Maulhardt each had 100-yard receiving games. This could end up being a high-scoring contest if the Cowboys can solve Nebraska’s defense.

    Advantages

Offense: Nebraska – Both teams have solid attacks, but the Huskers have a little more talent overall.

Defense:  Nebraska – Wyoming showed flash offensively, but it also allowed 462 total yards against Northern Illinois
Special Teams: Wyoming – The Huskers didn’t get to show much of their return game while beating up on Fresno State, but D.J. May can be an explosive returner for Wyoming.
Coaching: Even – Craig Bohl was an defensive assistant during Nebraska’s run in the late 1990s and early 2000s before winning three straight FCS national titles at North Dakota State as head coach. He’s in his third year trying to turn around Wyoming and seems to have it heading in the right direction.
Intangibles: Nebraska – The Huskers have won 30 consecutive games against Mountain West opponents.

    Matchup To Watch

    Allen vs. Nebraska’s defense

Northern Illinois is no slouch, and Allen picked it apart. That might be more difficult against the Cornhuskers, but if he gets going early it might be a long day for the Nebraska defense, which is going to get much tougher test than in its opener.

    Nebraska vs. Wyoming Betting Odds

    Spread: Nebraska minus-24

    Over/Under: N/A

    Nebraska vs. Wyoming Prediction

Nebraska keeps Allen and the Wyoming offense in check as Armstrong shines in both the passing and running games to lead the Huskers to victory.
