The Nevada Wolf Pack will welcome the UNLV Rebels to Reno on Saturday in a battle for the Fremont Cannon.
The Wolf Pack (2-2) are looking to build off a narrow, 24-21 win over Buffalo last week, thanks to solid play from sophomore running back James Buter and freshman safety Dameon Baber. Butler tore up the Bulls defense for a career high 177 yards and a score. Baber recorded two interceptions in his first collegiate game; his second sealed the game for Nevada, putting a stop to the potential game-winning drive for the Bulls.
UNLV notched its first win of the 2015 season last week in convincing fashion. The Rebels dropped 80 points on Idaho State, breaking multiple school and conference records in the process. Running backs Xzavier Campbell and Lexington Thomas each topped 100-yards and combined for three of UNLV’s six rushing touchdowns in the colossal victory.
This game features two titles for the victor, ownership of the Fremont Cannon and winner of the Governor’s Series. The winner of Saturday’s matchup gains a 3-0 lead in the series.
