Power 12 College Basketball Rankings, Week 3

Power 12 College Basketball Rankings for Week 3 of the 2015 season. Find out which team flexes its muscles atop the nation this week.

Introducing the Power 12 College Basketball Rankings, because everyone has a top 25.

Every dude out there has a top 25, but let’s be honest, do you really care about the 24th team in the nation in late November? No, you dont, but you do care about the top 12 teams.

Why 12? It was my jersey number while playing at Notre Dame. Besides that, who else has in the country has a top 12?

    No one.

Maryland remains the No. 1 team thanks to the best starting five in the nation. Melo Trimble leads the Terps, Jake Layman has delivered and Rasheed Sulaimon has been a team player leading in assists. Robert Carter has been the impact transfer they hoped for.

Michigan State is now No. 3 after starting out at No. 10. Denzel Valentine may have more sex appeal than the other Denzel if you poll coeds in East Lansing. That’s because Valentine is averaging nearly a triple-double. He has been EVERYTHING TO SPARTY.

No. 12 Purdue rounds out this week’s Power 12 College Basketball Rankings. There isn’t a big dog on the Boilermakers roster, but they are loaded with some animals and the frontline is scary. Caleb Swanigan is a double-double threat and then there’s a pair of 7-footah gootahs in AJ Hammons and Issac Haas. Haas has elevated his game. This is a rugged bunch that’s my darkhorse to win the Big Ten title.

Virginia, previously No. 7, is out. The Cavaliers were bodied by George Washington in the second game of year. Love Malcolm Brogdon as the go-to guy and Anthony Gill as a dynamic piece to the puzzle. But the third guy of the big three, London Perrantes, has to be a consistent scorer. He disappeared against George Washington, only scoring 5 points. Viginia has the defense, but the offense has been lacking, and that’s a serious concern.
