Power 12 College Basketball Rankings, Week 6

The Power 12 College Basketball Rankings for Week 6 of the 2015-16 are out, and the Maryland Terrapins are once again sitting on top.

For a second straight week Michigan State sits at No. 1 in my Power 12 College Basketball Rankings.

Just behind the Spartans are the Kansas Jayhawks, who replaced North Carolina after the Tar Heels lost to Texas.

Speaking of UNC, Roy Williams’ boys fell the hardest this week, from No. 2 to No. 10.

Butler jumped into the rankings, while Villanova was the lone team to drop completely out.

Week 6 Power 12 College Basketball Rankings

    1) Michigan State (Last Week: 1)

One of the best passing teams in the country. I haven’t seen this much chemistry since Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in the Notebook.

    2) Kansas (3)

Wayne Selden has finally arrived. This team is as deep as any in the country.

    3) Oklahoma (8)

One of the toughest perimeters to defend in the country. The three-headed monster of Buddy Hield, Isaiah Cousins, and Jordan Woodard are deadly.

    4) Maryland (4)

The backcourt is still learning to play with each other, this team has not hit its stride yet.

    5) Duke (6)

Amile Jefferson has seamlessly transitioned from career role player to a consistent double-double performer. The question remains at point guard — can Derryck Thornton adjust sooner than later?

    6) Xavier (7)

This is the best team in Musketeer history. They are talented, balanced, and extremely physical. They have a capable bench, sublime guard play, and they play at a relentless pace for 40 minutes.

    7) Kentucky (9)

Waiting for Skal Labissiere to break through. When he does this team can take the No. 1 spot.

    8) Purdue (10)

No more intimidating frontline in the country. They play a lot of guys and wear down the opponent over the course of a contest.

    9) Iowa State (5)

If only every game were played at Hilton Coliseum. What a comeback against Iowa last week. This team can score, and score quickly.

    10) North Carolina (2)

Tough loss in a tough road environment in Austin. Gave up a lot from three-point range in the loss to Shaka’s guy. This team will bounce back.

    11) Butler (NR)

Team that always takes the good shot. Shooting better than 51% from the field. They don’t beat themselves.

    12) Arizona (12)

This team has surpassed early expectations. Incredibly athletic. Team likes to push the pace and dictate tempo. Doing it all without experienced big Kaleb Tarczewski.
