South Alabama travels to Southern California on Saturday to take on San Diego State for the first time. Both teams are even in the win-loss column (1-1) and are looking to put big Week 2 losses behind them.  

After securing victories in Week 1, the Jaguars and Aztecs each dropped their second game of the season to a Power 5 team. South Alabama fell 48-9 to Nebraska, while San Diego State lost a 35-7 contest to Cal, which was closer than the score indicates.

Both teams will turn to their respective running games for an edge in this matchup. San Diego State will look for a big game from standout RB Donnel Pumphrey, who has yet to notch 100 yards in a game this season, while South Alabama hopes sophomore Xavier Johnson (10.6 ypc) can continue rushing the ball effectively in San Diego.
