TCU vs. South Dakota State prediction and game preview for the season-opener between the Horned Frogs and Jackrabbits. TCU vs. South Dakota State
August 31, 2016TCU vs. South Dakota State prediction and game preview for the season-opener between the Horned Frogs and Jackrabbits.
Date: Saturday, September 3
Kickoff: 8:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth, Texas
Television Station: FSN
TCU is hoping that Kenny Hill can turn back the clock to that point in time when he was believed to be the second-coming of Johnny Manziel (when that was still considered a compliment), and known as “Kenny Trill.” With an iffy running back situation, Hill will be expected to wing the ball around. Luckily he’s set up behind a solid offensive line and has a deep, talented wide receiving corps to play with.
Hill also has the benefit of going against a South Dakota State team replacing its top two corners – JeRyan Butler and Jimmie Forsythe. The Jackrabbits opened last season with a victory over Kansas, but this TCU club is a completely different monster.
The most intriguing angle heading into this game is how similar these teams are – only at different skill levels. Both are weak at corner, underwent drawn-out quarterback battles, and have serious talent at wide receiver.
Kenny Hill vs. South Dakota State’s corners
It’s a welomcing party for Hill, so carving up an inexperienced secondary will serve as a nice warm-up. Time to get reps in before the following week’s slugfest against Arkansas.
For the Jackrabbits, this is as tough as it gets all season. There’s something to be said for a baptism by fire for this inexperienced group.
Spread: TCU -30
Over/Under: NA
TCU puts the pedal to the metal right out of the gate, and this one is over before halftime. Hill gets the necessary reps, and then takes a rest for the second half of the game.
Final Score Prediction For TCU vs. South Dakota State: TCU 63, South Dakota State 7
