Here's what strength and conditioning coach Vic Viloria faces following his DUI arrest. The Florida State Seminoles will be without their head
September 1, 2016Here’s what strength and conditioning coach Vic Viloria faces following his DUI arrest.
The Florida State Seminoles will be without their head strength and conditioning coach, Vic Viloria, for the entire first month of the 2016 season.
FSU handed down Viloria’s suspension following his DUI arrest last weekend, sidelining the coach without pay until Oct. 1. The suspension officially starts on Friday, Sept. 2.
Viloria will be suspended without pay.
Florida State’s letter cited “Conduct unbecoming a public employee” and “Drinking on the job or reporting to work under the influence of alcohol.”
Also in the letter, FSU Director of Athletics Stan Wilcox wrote, “In your written statement [to police], you explained that the ‘Showtime’ crew had given you a bottle of whiskey to congratulate you for finishing pre-season camp.” You further explained that on Friday, August 26, 2016, you and your assistant were working late and at approximately 10:00 p.m. to or three employees from the ‘Showtime Crew’ came to your office.”
Viloria was found asleep by police behind the wheel of his vehicle while it was still in drive. After officers attempted to wake him, Viloria drove into an electronic cross-walk sign. He was also charged with property damage.
He refused a breathlyzer, but later recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.124 and 0.125.
According to Showtime, which chose the Noles as the focal point of this year’s “A Season With” series, the members Viloria drank with were outsourced and not part of the company.
