Sept. 18 Auburn 20, at Kansas State 14
And You Care Because … Kansas State missed three field goals and got intercepted in the end zone on a muffed pass, and Auburn needed the help. The Tiger offense sputtered, but it came up with a big touchdown scoring drive late in the first half finished with a 40-yard Ricardo Louis touchdown catch to spark a 17 point scoring run. When needed, AU marched on a long fourth quarter drive finishing up with a nine-yard D’haquille Williams scoring grab for a 20-7 lead. Kansas State answered back with an 11-play scoring drive with Charles Jones getting in from one-yard out on the wildcat, but Auburn ran out the clock.
What Else? Kansas State PK Jack Cantele missed all three field goal attempts from 41, 42 and 22 yards out.
    – Kansas State QB Jake Waters completed 24-of-40 passes for 245 yards and two picks, and Curry Sexton caught 11 passes for 121 yards.
    – Auburn QB Nick Marshall completed 17-of-31 passes for 231 yards and two scores with a pick, and ran ten times for 46 yards. D’haquille Williams caught eight passes for 110 yards and a score.
    – Rushing yards: Auburn 128 (2.8-yard average) – Kansas State 40 (1.3-yard average)
    Game Rating: B+

Sept. 20 Oklahoma 45, at West Virginia 33
And You Care Because … Samaje Perine ran for four scores with three coming in the second half, and Alex Ross returned a kickoff 100 yard for a score as Oklahoma blew open a tight game. West Virginia stayed in it in the first half on two Clint Trickett touchdown passes and a Rushel Shell score, but the OU offense took over in the second half and finished with over 300 rushing yards. The Mountaineers only got into the end zone once in the second half.
What Else? Oklahoma RB Samaje Perine ran 34 times for 242 yards and four scores.
    – West Virginia QB Clint Trickett completed 25-of-41 passes for 376 yards and two touchdowns with two picks. Kevin White caught ten passes for 173 yards and a score.
    – Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight completed 16-of-29 passes for 205 yards with a pick and caught a pass for a four-yard score. He didn’t run.
    – Total Yards: West Virginia 513 – Oklahoma 510
    Game Rating: B

    Sept. 20 Kansas 24, Central Michigan 10
And You Care Because … Kansas woke up just in time to get past Central Michigan for its second win of the season. The game was tied at 10 entering the final quarter, but Jayhawk QB Montell Cozart sealed the victory on a pair of touchdown passes. The Chippewas’ attempts to mount a comeback were stifled by their own ineffectiveness and the play of the Kansas D.
What Else? For Cozart, it was a career-best day in Lawrence, highlighted by 226 yards passing and those critical fourth-quarter scoring strikes.
    – Central Michigan’s offensive struggles continued in Week 4. Against an average defense, QB Cooper Rush couldn’t stretch the defense, and the runners averaged less than three yards per carry.
    – Kansas LB Jake Love lived in the Central Michigan backfield on Saturday. He only had five tackles, but four of them were for minus yards.
    – As is often the case lately, LB Justin Cherocci was the best Chippewa on the field. He had a game-high 18 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble, helping keep the Kansas backs under wraps.
    Game Rating: C-
