The third batch of College Football Playoff rankings will be revealed on Tuesday night, and fans across the country will certainly be interested to see if the top 25 is dramatically different than what they saw last week following a chaotic weekend of football that featured losses by Clemson, Michigan and Washington.

The Tigers dropped a home contest to Pitt when Chris Blewitt made a 48-yard field goal with six seconds left to give Pat Narduzzi’s squad a 43-42 win. The loss spoiled a record day for Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson, though the Heisman Trophy contender threw three picks—including one that allowed the Panthers to stay alive in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Michigan’s loss to Iowa may not be crushing because the Wolverines still have a chance to play for a Big Ten crown. However, Ohio State may not get a chance to even compete for a league title, as the Buckeyes need Penn State to slip up in one of its final two games. However, a one-loss Buckeyes team that would not play for a conference crown certainly would still have a strong body of work.

Chris Petersen and Washington still have a lot of work to do, though, as the Huskies no longer control their own destiny. A Pac-12 title is still in play, but how would a one-loss U-Dub squad stack up against other one-loss teams? We do know the CFP selection committee values conference championships, so that should help the Huskies.

Looking ahead to Tuesday’s release, here is a projection of how the committee will rank the top 25 teams in the country.
