Head coach Mark Fox has added an enormous addition to his Georgia program.

Rayshaun Hammonds, the No. 9 small forward and No. 49 overall recruit in the 2017 class, has announced his commitment to the Bulldogs. A 6-foot-7, 190-pound prospect out of Norcross High School in Norcross, Georgia, Hammonds is the second highest-ranked recruit Fox has landed during his time in Athens, the highest being Kentavious Caldwell-Pope back in 2011.

One of Hammonds’ greatest strengths is his rebounding, and he is also working on developing a solid mid-range and three-point shot at the college level. Though he still has some work to do, he’s well on his way to becoming an efficient scorer from various levels on the floor.

What makes Hammonds so valuable is his versatility at the forward position. Along with regularly playing the small forward position, he is capable of operating in the 4-slot if needed. Any player that can guard multiple positions is a coveted asset in college hoops, and Hammonds should fill that role nicely for Fox.

Along with the Bulldogs, Hammonds was also considering and had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Miami and Texas.

He is the first commitment of Georgia’s 2017 class.
