The Saint Joseph’s Hawks have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.
Team: Saint Joseph’s Hawks
Record: 27-7
Conference: Atlantic 10
Head coach: Phil Martelli
How they got here: Won conference tournament
The electric duo of Isaiah Miles and DeAndre Bembry is must-see TV. They can dominate on both ends and play off one another like peanut butter and jelly. Miles is the more consistent guy from the perimeter, while Bembry is a tick stronger inside. Both are demons on the glass.
Consistency beyond the top two scorers has been an issue all season, and if an opponent shuts down Miles and Bembry, the Hawks are in trouble. A lack of perimeter shooting is an issue when St. Joe’s falls behind, and this a team that doesn’t do a great job of protecting the rim.
You can’t get swept by St. Bonaventure during the regular season and lose to the likes of Duquesne and have our faith. St. Joe’s could survive the first round based on matchups, but this won’t be a team playing during the second weekend.
