The Toreros (6-2, 4-1 PFL) are on a three-game winning streak, including last week’s 47-16 beat-down of Stetson. Anthony Lawrence was brilliant, passing for a career high 453 yards, which is the second most in a single game in San Diego history. In addition to the plethora of yards, Lawrence was 20-of-28 passing for three touchdowns. Brian Riley also had a big performance totaling a career high 177 receiving yards on six receptions and a touchdown. San Diego outgained the Hatters 644-280, and the Toreros recorded 191 rushing yards to Stetson’s 177. The Toreros also doubled up the amount of first downs that Stetson recorded, 24-12.
The Camels (5-4, 3-3 PFL) are searching for their third consecutive road victory Saturday after defeating the Davidson Wildcats 39-9 last week. Campbell was led by De’Shawn Jones who ran for a school record 201 yards and three touchdowns, his fourth 100+ yard game of the season and fifth overall. The Camels rushed for 313 yards as a team, while the Campbell front seven held the Wildcats to just three yards total on the ground. The Camels outgained the Widcats in total yards by a 508-249 margin.
San Diego and Campbell will meet for the fourth time Saturday, with the Toreros leading the series by a slim 2-1 count. The Toreros blanked the Camels at home 44-0 last season.
