SEC Football Rankings – Week 4


SEC football rankings entering Week 4 of the 2016 season. Alabama rallied from a 21-point first half deficit to beat Ole Miss and keep the top spot in the SEC.


Ole Miss looked in control through most of the first half against Alabama and held a 24-3 lead. The last time ‘Bama rallied from that large of a deficit to win? It was 1989 … at Ole Miss.

The Crimson Tide’s victory kept them firmly atop the conference rankings, with Texas A&M staying right behind them by winning at Auburn. Some others in the SEC had some issues.

Here’s a look at how we see the SEC heading into Week 4.

Week 4 SEC Football Rankings

14. Kentucky

Gave up 42 to points to New Mexico State, but the Wildcats were able to put up 62.

13. Vanderbilt

Blown out in a tough road game at Georgia Tech.

12. Missouri

Had the lead late in the fourth quarter before Georgia pulled it out.

11. South Carolina

Pulled out a tough one against East Carolina.

10. Mississippi State

Gave LSU all it could handle.

9. Auburn 

Gus Malzahn’s seat got a little hotter with the home loss to Texas A&M.

8. Arkansas

Dispatched of Texas State 42-3 in an easy victory after upsetting TCU.

7. LSU

Nearly blew a big lead but hung on to beat Mississippi State.

6. Florida

Had little problem in a 32-0 win over North Texas.

5. Ole Miss

Two losses in games the Rebels held huge leads. Brutal.

4. Tennessee

Had a lot of trouble before finally putting away Ohio at home.

3. Georgia

Georgia had another close call, needing a touchdown in the final minutes to beat Missouri.

2. Texas A&M 

The Aggies held this spot after a nice win at Auburn.

1. Alabama

The Crimson Tide proved they’re still the team to beat after rallying from a huge deficit at Ole Miss.
