Four-star point guard Shai Alexander has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats. He is the No. 12 point guard and No. 46 overall recruit in the 2017 class.

Four-star point guard Shai Alexander has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats, per his head coach Zach Ferrell.

Alexander, the No. 12 point guard and No. 46 overall prospect in the class of 2017, had previously committed to Florida before reopening his recruitment a month ago. Now, he’s jumping ship to the Gators’ SEC counterpart.

In an interview with Scout, Ferrell said, “I think Kentucky’s pitch to him and what he sees the value is the opportunity to put himself into a position to help him achieve his highest goals through their resume with what they’ve been able to do so effectively with others before.”

“The thing with Shai [is] he’s the kind of kid that everybody loves playing with,” Ferrell continued. “Everyone likes to coach him because he does what you ask and has a good attitude. He’s unselfish, willing to work and focuses on things that matter.”

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds, Alexander is the perfect example of a player that makes his teammates better. He has elite passing abilities and fantastic court vision, constantly finding open looks for his teammates. He’s a speedy point guard with impressive ball-handling skills, allowing him to drive to the basket and take it to the rim himself or dish the ball out to an open teammate.

After de-committing from Florida, Alexander took an official visit to UNLV, followed by an official visit to Kentucky on November 5th.

Rounding out the Wildcats’ 2017 class is 5-star power forward P.J. Washington and 5-star center Nick Richards. With Alexander’s commitment, Kentucky is now ranked No. 5 nationally in the recruiting rankings.
