Why Southern Miss Will Win

Mississippi State and Marshall are the only two teams to slow down the Golden Eagle attack this fall. Charlotte isn’t Mississippi State or Marshall. Southern Miss’ potent system of QB Nick Mullens and a slew of quality playmakers will be too much for a 49er D that’s given up 37 points in each of the last two games.

Why Charlotte Will Win

The 49ers are underrated when the ball is being run. On offense, RB Kalif Phillips is well on his way to 1,000 yards after shredding Old Dominion for 204 and two scores Saturday. And the Larry Ogunjobi-led defense is allowing just 3.5 yards a carry.

What’s Going To Happen?

Southern Miss is back on track and closing in on a coveted bowl berth. The Golden Eagles, provided they start converting in the red zone, aren’t about to stumble to a Charlotte team lacking the defensive personnel to derail Mullens and his ensemble.
