Why Southern Miss Will Win

After playing nine consecutive weeks, the Golden Eagles made the most of last week’s bye, resting and recharging for the stretch run. Their diverse offensive attack, which ranks No. 3 in league scoring and second in total yards, will steamroll a Rice D that’s one of just nine in the FBS yielding more than seven yards a play.

Why Rice Will Win

With Driphus Jackson taking snaps, the Owls always have a shot of delivering a surprise. Jackson has accounted for 42 touchdowns over the last two seasons, and the deep Rice backfield will hit the Southern Miss front seven with fresh legs all afternoon.

What’s Going To Happen?

Southern Miss’ breakthrough charge toward a possible West Division title won’t be stunted by this Rice team. The Eagles will attack the Owls from all angles, mixing the passing of Nick Mullens with running of big-play backs Jalen Richard and Ito Smith.
