Temple vs. Tulane prediction and game preview. Projecting who wins the matchup between the Owls and Green Wave.
When: Saturday, November 19 – 3:30 p.m. ET
Where: Yulman Stadium, New Orleans, LA
TV Broadcast: ESPN3
Temple won its fourth straight game with a 21-0 shutout of UConn. The defense was on point, allowing a mere 160 yards of total offense to the Huskies while quarterback Phillip Walker threw for all three scores in the victory.
Tulane dropped its fifth game in a row, a 30-18 loss to Houston, as the usual powerful running game could get nothing going on the ground, gaining only 100 rushing yards.
Don’t make mistakes and keep the chains moving is the key for the Owls, as Walker is complemented by running back Ryquell Armstead (807 rushing yards on the season) and the defense is filthy. Temple is No. 7 nationally in total defense, allowing only 291.4 yards per game. Stopping the Tulane rushing attack and putting the game on Glen Cuiellette’s arm will be key.
What happened to the rushing attack? It was nowhere to be seen in the loss to Houston, and now the Green Wave must get it going against an Owls defense that allows just 137.20 yards per game on the ground. Points will be at a minimum for Tulane, so the defense must be able to keep the offense in the game.
Offense: Temple. Walker has had a fine season under center.
Defense: Temple. The Owls give up 20.4 points per game.
Special Teams: Temple. Tulane kicker has made just 9-of-15 field goal attempts.
Coaching: Temple. Matt Rhule is taking what he learned as an assistant in the NFL and using it to his advantage as a college head coach.
Intangibles: Temple. The Owls have a chance at winning the AAC East.
Tulane rushing attack vs. Temple rush defense
Tulane must run the ball to be effective on offense.
Spread: Temple -15
Over/Under: 46.5
The Owls have all the momentum, and the defense has been playing lights out. Don’t expect that to change against a Tulane offense that tends to sputter at times during the games. Armstead will have a big day on the ground, and Temple will put the pressure on Cuillette, forcing some mistakes and coming away with their fifth straight win.
Temple vs. Tulane Score Prediction: Temple 31, Tulane 13
