Texas A&M Adds Former Oklahoma OT Christian Daimler As Grad Transfer

Ex-Oklahoma offensive tackle Christian Daimler announced on social media over the weekend that he plans to join Texas A&M. He will have a chance to compete for a starting gig.

For the third consecutive year, Texas A&M has picked up a former Oklahoma Sooner from the transfer market.

After running back Keith Ford and quarterback Trevor Knight left OU for A&M the last two offseasons, offensive tackle Christian Daimler announced on social media over the weekend that he plans to join Kevin Sumlin’s Aggies this fall, leaving the Big 12 for SEC country as a grad transfer. He had announced on March 30 that he would be leaving Norman.

“Excited to be a part of the Aggie Family for my final year! Gig’em!” Daimler wrote on Twitter.

The 6-foot-7, 321-pounder will be eligible to play immediately with one season remaining.

The Stratford High School (Houston, TX) product arrived in Norman as a three-star recruit with offers from A&M, Arizona State, Colorado and Colorado State. Daimler did not see a ton of playing time with the Sooners during his tenure, playing in three games last season after redshirting in 2013 and not seeing action in 2014 and 2015. He should have a chance to compete for a starting job at either offensive tackle position for the Aggies, though, with Avery Gennesy and Jermaine Eluemunor having exhausted their eligibility.

A&M is also looking for a new starting quarterback as well, as Knight has also exhausted his eligibility. The Aggies wrapped up their spring practice session on Saturday with their spring game. Jake Hubenak, Kellen Mond and Nick Starkel are trying to replace Knight, and it’s the team’s fifth quarterback competition in six years.
