The 2016 Oklahoma football schedule starts out nasty – and then it’s on to Big 12 play. If it gets back to the playoff, it’ll have to earn it.
March 4, 2016
The 2016 Texas football schedule starts out with a highly-anticipated home matchup against Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Sept. 10 UTEP
Sept. 17 at California
Sept. 24 OPEN DATE
Oct. 1 at Oklahoma State
Oct. 8 Oklahoma (in Dallas)
Oct. 15 Iowa State
Oct. 22 at Kansas State
Oct. 29 Baylor
Nov. 5 at Texas Tech

Non-Conference Games Notre Dame, UTEP, at California
5 Keys to the Schedule
– The Notre Dame game can’t be any worse than last year’s opener – even if it’s getting a prime Sunday slot. UTEP should be a nice break before going to Cal to close out the non-conference portion.
– The week off comes after going to Berkeley. The Longhorns get all nine Big 12 games in a row right after the September 24th break.
– There aren’t two home games in a row after the opening two weeks against the Irish and Miners. Fortunately, the final road game is at Kansas to ease into the showdown with TCU five days later.
– The Longhorns go over a month without playing a home game. The UTEP game is on September 10th, and they don’t play Iowa State in Darrell K. Royal until October 15th.
– WATCH OUT FOR … the two massive home games against the big boys. Oklahoma – as always – is in Dallas, and Oklahoma State is in Stillwater, but Texas gets Baylor and TCU at home.
