College baseball is officially back after this past weekend’s opening slate of games. Even after just one weekend of action, we’re already seeing some shift in the Baseball America rankings.

There are no changes to report regarding the top five teams, as all five (TCU, Florida State, Florida, LSU, and South Carolina) remain in their same positions. Only two of them, FSU and South Carolina, lost a game over the weekend.

Two preseason top 10 teams, however, did fall out of this week’s top 10 as No. 11 East Carolina (previously No. 6) and No. 15 Clemson (previously No. 10) both got off to a rough start. The Pirates went 0-3 while visiting Ole Miss over the weekend, while Clemson went 1-2 against Wright State.

Speaking of Ole Miss and Wright State, both teams have joined this week’s top 25 after beginning the season unranked. The Rebels find themselves as this week’s No. 22 team, while the Raiders landed at No. 25. Long Beach State and Maryland (previously No. 20 and No. 24 respectively) are the only two teams to fall out of the rankings. With Maryland’s departure from the top 25, there are no Big Ten team’s currently ranked.

A couple of the biggest storylines from opening weekend revolved around LSU’s Jared Poché and Virginia Tech’s Sam Fragale.

Poché, a 6’1″ left handed starter who was drafted in the 14th round of the 2016 MLB draft, threw LSU’s first complete game no-hitter since 1979 this past Saturday, which also happened to be the Tigers’ 2,500th all-time victory. The no-no was the sixth ever thrown by an LSU pitcher.

Fragale, a redshirt junior, blasted three home runs during Friday’s contest against USC Upstate, becoming the first Hokie to complete the feat since 2009. He went on to add a double and a triple, ending the game 5-5 at the plate. Fragale singled in his first at-bat on Saturday, giving him a red hot 6-6 start to the season.
