The Oregon Ducks are one of the best teams in the country heading into the 2016-17 season, and by the looks of it, that won’t be changing anytime soon.

Troy Brown, the No. 3 small forward and No. 11 overall recruit in the 2017 class, took to social media to announce his commitment to head coach Dana Altman’s program on Monday afternoon.

Brown is one of the most versatile prospects in the nation. He’s capable of playing all three perimeter positions and, standing at 6-foot-6, has ideal size for a backcourt player. Brown has outstanding vision on the floor and compliments that with his skilled handles. His athleticism, decision-making and ability to finish at the rim make him a nightmare in transition for opposing guards.

In an interview with Scout, Brown said, “I love the coaching staff and the style of play fits me. One guy that has done an amazing job of recruiting me is coach [Tony] Stubblefield. He’s always been there with me. They’ve been there for a really long time. I like coach [Dana] Altman as a coach. Their defensive is amazing and the way they run it.”

It was his relationship specifically with Stubblefield, though, that swayed Brown toward Eugene.

“He was very persistent and cared more about my life outside of basketball and gave me very good constructive criticism to help me in the long run,” Brown said.

In his time with the Las Vegas prospects of the Nike EYBL Circuit, Brown averaged 16 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

Along with Oregon, Brown also took official visits to Alabama, Georgetown, Kansas and Ohio State. He also held offers from Arizona, Cal and UNLV.

Joining Brown in the Ducks’ 2017 class are four-star shooting guard V.J. Bailey and four-star small forward Abu Kigab.
