Troy Stuns LSU in Baton Rouge

Troy snapped LSU’s 49-game home non-conference win streak with a 24-21 win.

The start of Ed Orgeron’s first full season as LSU head coach continued to go in the wrong direction after the Tigers were shocked by Troy 24-21 on Saturday.

Running back Jordan Chunn ran for 191 yards and one touchdown on 30 carries to lift the Trojans to a historic win for their program.

Troy set the tone early when quarterback Brandon Silvers ran for a touchdown only 1:47 into the game. Troy finished the first half with a 37-yard field goal and opened the second half with a six-play, 75-yard drive that resulted in Chunn’s touchdown to give the Trojans a 17-0 advantage.

The Tigers offense couldn’t muster any points in the first half with Danny Etling under center and turned to Myles Brennan to start the second half. Brennan threw for a touchdown near the end of the third quarter but was pulled after he threw an interception. Etling went back in the game and threw two touchdowns of his own in the fourth quarter. However, it wasn’t enough as LSU failed to recover a late onside kick and then Etling threw an interception to end the game.

After the win the Troy University Twitter account sent a special message to LSU.
