    Why You Need To Care

Tulsa is grinding for the six wins needed to bowl. UCF, like Kansas, is just looking to avoid being winless in 2015. The Golden Hurricane climbed back to .500 with last week’s defeat of SMU. With two more wins in the final four games, it’ll keep playing in December, a big step for rookie head coach Philip Montgomery. The Knights stopped being competitive weeks ago, but would like to give their seniors and their interim coach—Danny Barrett—a victory this month.

    Why UCF Will Win

Tulsa hasn’t beaten anyone better than New Mexico this season because the defense has been rotten. The Hurricane yields 38 points per game and 6.4 yards per play. If the Knights are going to capitalize, it must come from QB Justin Holman and rookie RB C.J. Jones, who rushed for 123 yards last week versus Cincinnati.

    Why Tulsa Will Win

UCF has no shot of keeping pace with Montgomery’s offense, which has scored at least 40 in the last two games and is finally getting healthy in the backfield. The necrotic Knights, meanwhile, are averaging just 14 points a game. Tulsa has a nice mix of weapons with which gunslinging QB Dane Evans can collaborate.

    Player Who Matters

While Evans to WR Keyarris Garrett has been potent all year, the Tulsa offense will be doubly dangerous now that backs Zack Langer and D’Angelo Brewer are back from injury. Langer’s Mike Alstott-esque power between the tackles and Brewer jets inject balance and diversity into the attack. In their returns last week, Langer scored three times and Brewer sprinted for 119 yards.

    What’s Going To Happen?

UCF’s misery will continue this Saturday in Oklahoma. Tulsa, closing in on bowl eligibility, will feast on a distinctly weaker opponent, unleashing the entire array of playmakers. The Hurricane will start fast, finish strong and pull to within a victory of that coveted six-win benchmark.
