    The UCLA Bruins are back home in Los Angeles, Calif. to host the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in the Pauley Pavilion.

    Head coach Steve Alford has led his team to a 7-3 start, and the Bruins have won their last four games. But two of those wins were more impressive than the others. Beating Kentucky in Los Angeles, 87-77, was huge. Picking up a 71-66 win on Gonzaga’s home floor was just as big. UCLA is on a roll.

    For the Ragin’ Cajuns, it’s a matter of piecing it all together. They come into this matchup with a 3-4 record, but they haven’t won two straight games this season. Louisiana-Lafayette’s most recent outing ended with a 91-79 loss to Louisiana Tech.

    Prediction

    UCLA has been playing a good brand of basketball lately. Bryce Alford hasn’t had to carry the offensive load, and as long as Hamilton shows up like he did against the Zags, the Bruins will win this game. Welsh will take up a lot of space in the middle of the paint and lock down the boards. Long will hit double figures, but he won’t get much help from the rest of his team. Kasey Shepherd and Jay Wright will sink some threes, but the Bruins are going to torch Louisiana-Lafayette for 80-plus points.

    • The meeting between the Ragin’ Cajuns and Bruins is the first-ever between the schools on the hardwood. Current Louisiana head coach Bob Marlin is 0-1 all-time against the Bruins in his coaching career as his previous school – Sam Houston State – dropped a 75-61 decision at UCLA in the 2006-07 season.
    • UCLA has won its last four games and earned its second win over a nationally-ranked program in a nine-day span as it defeated No. 22 Gonzaga, 71-66, on Saturday in Spokane, Wash. Isaac Hamilton scored a team-leading 20 points and had three steals for the Bruins with Jonah Bolden registering his first collegiate double-double, totaling 10 points and 11 rebounds in a season-high 30 minutes off the bench.
    • Shawn Long is the NCAA Division I active leader in both double-doubles (56) and rebounds (1,117). He ranks second among active NCAA Division I players in FG (688) and rebound average (10.3), fourth in points (1,828) and seventh in blocked shots (224).
