The 2016 UTEP football schedule isn’t all that bad with a break in interdivisional play and enough winnable home games to expect a strong year.

Non-Conference Games: New Mexico State, at Texas, Army, Houston Baptist
Games vs. the East: FIU, Old Dominion, at Florida Atlantic
– The Miners have a shot at a nice early start with New Mexico State and Army, but they’re wrapped around a road game at Texas. The other non-conference game is against Houston Baptist to kick off November.
– The Conference USA slate starts out rough hosting Southern Miss and going to Louisiana Tech. Get a split, consider it a major success.
– The three games against the East aren’t bad – FIU, Old Dominion and at Florida Atlantic. The Miners miss Marshall, Middle Tennessee and WKU.
– UTEP leaves the state of Texas just once – at Louisiana Tech – until the November 12 game at FAU.
– WATCH OUT FOR … FIU. After starting out the C-USA slate with the Golden Eagles and Bulldogs, beating FIU is a must. Win that, get a week off, and there’s a nice run of winnable conference games.
