    Why UTEP Will Win

The lure of the postseason has ended for the Miners, but they’re still fighting for head coach Sean Kugler. They nearly upset West Division favorite Louisiana Tech last week, holding the high-scoring Bulldogs to 307 yards and their lowest point total of 2015. Plus, rookie RB TK Powell can build on his 124-yard effort against a feeble North Texas D allowing 43 points per game.

    Why North Texas Will Win

The Miners have been a different team outside of El Paso, losing five of six and yielding 47 points per trip. When the Mean Green have shown hints of life for interim coach Mike Canales, it’s usually come from the backfield tandem of QB DaMarcus Smith and RB Jeffrey Wilson, who are both dangerous with their feet.

    What’s Going To Happen?

The Miners’ defensive effort last week against La Tech was an indication that they plan to play to the 2015 whistle. UTEP will move the ball behind Powell, picking up a rare road win to take a little momentum into the offseason.
