There aren’t many things Vernon Jackson cannot do. His coaches at Boling High School in Texas have lined him up at quarterback, safety, linebacker and even asked him to put a hand in the dirt as a defensive end.

That’s one reason why the 6-foot-3, 235-pound prospect is ranked as the No. 19 athlete and No. 296 overall player in the 2018 recruiting class. And, on Saturday night, he narrowed his recruitment down t0 five schools.

Jackson’s list includes three programs from the Big 12 and two from the SEC. In alphabetical order, his final choices are Alabama, Baylor, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas A&M.

He released a statement regarding his decision to cut his list to five.

“After months of thinking, here are my top schools. For the most part, my recruiting process is shut down. I would like to thank all the coaches and schools for an opportunity and the time.”

The last college visit Jackson made was on March 31 when he took a trip to College Station to check out Kevin Sumlin’s Aggies.

However, of the teams to make the cut for the 4-star recruit, the last to offer him was Baylor, as Matt Rhule’s staff put its offer on the table on Feb. 21.
