Vikings-49ers Divisional Round Matchup: Date, Time, How to Watch

Can the Vikings pull off another upset?

Fresh off upsetting the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card Round, the Minnesota Vikings will face the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 4:35 PM ET on NBC.

The Vikings hope to ride the momentum from their statement showing against the Saints by continuing to feed RB Dalvin Cook, who ran for 94 yards and two TDs in last Sunday’s overtime win. Minnesota’s Wild Card triumph also marked QB Kirk Cousins’ first career playoff victory.

On the other sideline, San Francisco will try to pick up their first playoff ‘W’ in the Kyle Shanahan era. The 40-year-old 49ers coach will rely on QB Jimmy Garoppolo, who threw for 3,978 yards and 27 TDs in the regular season.

This is the first playoff matchup between the two teams since the 1997 NFC Divisional Round — a game in which future Hall of Fame QB Steve Young and the 49ers convincingly won 38-22. Take a trip back to 1998 and enjoy the dulcet tones of a young(er) Dick Stockton in this nostalgic playoff preview.

Saturday’s winner will advance to play either the Seattle Seahawks or Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
