Wake Forest football schedule predictions and early game-by-game preview for 2016. Projecting how the Demon Deacons will do this year.

Wake Forest is experienced, improved, and just good enough to be a problem for everyone on the schedule. Will the Demon Deacons be able to come up with something special? Check out the preseason predictions for every game.

    Sept. 1 vs. Tulane

Just how quickly can the Tulane option ground game come together? It won’t be there right away, and getting an entire offseason to prepare for it will help the Demon Deacons start the season with a bang on Thursday night.

Preseason Prediction: Wake Forest 41, Tulane 20

    Sept. 10 at Duke

It’ll be the first heartbreaker of a season full of them. Wake Forest will have several chances to come up with a win in the ACC opener, but Duke will have its moments, too. The two teams will battle back and forth, but the Blue Devil defense will hold serve late.

Preseason Prediction: Duke 34, Wake Forest 31

    Sept. 17 vs. Delaware

The Blue Hens won’t have the offense to keep up the pace after a good first quarter from the Demon Deacon passing game. It won’t get out of hand until late, but long, sustained Delaware scoring drives won’t exist.

Preseason Prediction: Wake Forest 31, Delaware 6

    Sept. 24 at Indiana

Get used to this – Wake Forest will lose a close one. Indiana gets a strangely-timed week off early in the season when it really doesn’t need it, but it’ll give it enough time to figure out what it’s doing against Wake. It’ll be an interesting game with the Hoosiers holding on late.

Preseason Prediction: Indiana 27, Wake Forest 23

    Oct. 1 at NC State

It really, really, really stinks that Wake Forest has to deal with an Indiana team with a week to prepare, and then an NC State squad that has a week off. The game will be tight for a while, but the Wolfpack will break away early in the second half and control the clock.

Preseason Prediction: NC State 30, Wake Forest 17

    Oct. 8 vs. Syracuse

It’s desperation time for a Wake Forest team on a three-game losing streak, yet Syracuse still gets by at home. The Orange will connect on a few deep plays in the second half to pull away, and the Demon Deacons won’t be able to push back.

Preseason Prediction: Syracuse 34, Wake Forest 31

    Oct. 15 at Florida State

There are certain times when things just aren’t going to work out well for a team like Wake Forest. On the road against a national title-level superpower that starts out 1-2 in ACC play with losses to Louisville and Miami? Uh oh.

Preseason Prediction: Florida State 44, Wake Forest 6

    Oct. 29 vs. Army

The bye week couldn’t come at a better time. Army’s option offense will be stopped to a halt by a Demon Deacon linebacking corps that’ll take it personally after getting ripped up by Florida State a few weeks before.

Preseason Prediction: Florida State 44, Wake Forest 6

    Nov. 5 vs. Virginia

If there’s any hope of turning things around and coming up with a good year, the Demon Deacons have to get a win over a Virginia team looking for something positive, too. They’ll get it with the defensive front controlling the game just enough for the offense to come up with a game-winning drive in the final minutes.

Preseason Prediction: Wake Forest 26, Virginia 24

    Nov. 12 at Louisville

The Cardinals will be solid at home with a workmanlike effort that gets the job done early on. Wake Forest’s offense won’t be able to keep up the pace after a big run early on. Louisville will win the ACC Atlantic with a win.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 38, Wake Forest 20

    Nov. 19 vs. Clemson

Can the Demon Deacons come up with something special late in the year at home to keep bowl hopes alive? Nope. Clemson will get everything working after a rocky first quarter. It’ll be just close enough early on to think that it might be a magical moment, and then the floodgates will open.

Preseason Prediction: Clemson 45, Wake Forest 16

    Nov. 26 vs. Boston College

Wake Forest won’t be bowling, but Boston College will with this win. The Eagles will get it done on the road with ball control, ball control, ball control. It won’t be a thing of beauty, but it will be for the Eagles as they own the time of possession.

Preseason Prediction: Boston College 23, Wake Forest 17

    2016 Prediction: 4-8
    2016 ACC Prediction: 1-7
