Morgan Burns returns fourth quarter kickoff for touchdown against West Virginia for go-ahead score.
Kansas State senior Morgan Burns has had quite a month. The defensive back came into the Wildcats’ game against West Virginia Saturday in Manhattan as the three-time reigning Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week. But Burns saved his best for last — and his best performance of the evening for the fourth quarter when his team needed him most.
Following a West Virginia field goal that put the Mountaineers up 23-17 early in the final quarter, the special teams extraordinaire caught the ensuing kickoff and blazed up the field 97 yards for the go-ahead score and helped the Wildcats become bowl eligible with a 24-23 victory.
It was Burns’ fourth kickoff return for a touchdown this season, tying a Big 12 record. That number is also best in FBS.
