    And You Care Because … Jared Goff and Sefo Liufau each threw for 449 yards and seven touchdown passes, but it was Cal’s defense that got the job done late with a goal line stand in the second overtime allowing Bear PK James Langford to hit a 34-yard field goal for the win. It took a wild final four minutes get to the extra time with Colorado’s Nelson Spruce coming up with his second of three touchdown catches with just over three minutes to play, but Cal answered with two touchdowns in less than 30 seconds on a Goff 75-yard touchdown pass to Stephen Anderson and a 40-yarder to Chris Harper for the lead. But the Buffs would fight back with Bryce Bobo catching a 30-yard touchdown pass with 21 seconds to play to force overtime. 
    What Else? Colorado QB Sefo Liufau completed 46-of-67 passes for 449 yards and seven touchdowns with a pick, and led the team with 72 rushing yards on ten carries. Cal QB Jared Goff completed 23-of-41 passes for 449 yards and seven touchdowns with one interception 
    – Colorado WR Nelson Spruce caught 19 passes for 176 yards and three scores
    – Total yards: Colorado 629 – California 576
    – Penalties: California 12 for 113 yards – Colorado 9 for 75 yards

    Sept. 27 Washington State 28, at Utah 27 
    And You Care Because … Down 21-0 in the first quarter and 24-7 in the second half, Washington State fought through the rain and the Utah D to get four touchdown passes from Connor Halliday including two to Dom Williams from 35 and 20 yards out and two more strikes to Vince Mayle from 11 and 81 yards out, with the latter coming with just under five minutes to play. The Cougar defense held on as Utah managed just two Andy Phillips field goals after the first quarter. Devontae Booker ran for a 76-yard touchdown, Eric Rowe took a Halliday interception 11 yards for a score, and Kaelin Clay returned a punt 58 yards for a touchdown, but the Utah offense couldn’t keep up. 
    What Else? Washington State QB Connor Halliday completed 39-of-61 passes for 417 yards and four touchdowns with two picks 
    – Utah RB Devontae Booker ran 24 times for 178 yards and a touchdown
    – Washington State WR Ricer Cracraft caught nine passes for 126 yards and Vince Mayle caught eight passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns
    – Utah QB Travis Wilson completed 18-of-38 passes for 165 yards

    Sept. 25 UCLA 62, at Arizona State 27 
    And You Care Because … Down 17-6 early in the second quarter, UCLA stepped up with the start of a massive explosion, going on a 56-10 run starting with a 80-yard touchdown pass play to Eldridge Massington. ASU appeared to be ready to close out the first half strong, but Ishmael Adams returned a Mike Bercovici pass 95 yards for a touchdown in the final seconds for a ten point Bruin lead, and the rout was on. UCLA needed one play to start the second half with a score, with Jordan Payton taking a Brett Hundley pass 80 yards for a touchdown, and following a 24-yard Zane Gonzalez field goal for ASU, Adams struck again with a kickoff return for a score. Hundley finished up with a four-yard scoring pass to Payton and a one-yard touchdown run. 
    What Else? UCLA QB Brett Hundley completed 18-of-23 passes for 355 yards and four touchdowns and ran eight times for 72 yards and a score. 
    – Arizona State QB Mike Bercovici completed 42-of-68 passes for 488 yards and three touchdowns with a pick. 
    – UCLA WR Jordan Payton caught five passes for 151 yards and two scores, and Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong caught 12 passes for 146 yards
    – UCLA RB Paul Perkins ran 14 times for 137 yards

    Sept. 27 Stanford 20, at Washington 13 
    And You Care Because … The Stanford offense needed a spark, and it got it as Washington’s fake punt attempt midway through the fourth quarter was stopped, and the Cardinal took advantage going 47 yards in six plays with Kevin Hogan running it in from five yards out for the game-winning score. Stanford took a 10-0 lead on a 17-yard Ty Montgomery touchdown catch, plowing his way in for the score, but Washington tied it at 13 in the first half on a 25-yard Jaydon Mickens catch and a 32-yard fumble return for a score from Shaq Thompson. The Husky offense went stagnant, finishing with just 179 yards.
    What Else? Stanford QB Kevin Hogan completed 17-of-26 passes for 178 yards and a score with an interception 
    – Washington QB Cyler Miles completed 15-of-29 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown 
    – Turnovers: Stanford 3 – Washington 0
    – The two teams combined to convert 8-of-30 third down conversions

    Sept. 27 at USC 35, Oregon State 10 
    And You Care Because … USC got a pick six rom Su’a Cravens, but Oregon State answered with a kickoff return for a touchdown from Ryan Murphy. That was the only time the Beavers got into the end zone as the USC defense held OSU to just 181 yards and a 38-yard field goal. Down 10-7, USC scored 28 unanswered points starting with two Cody Kessler touchdown passes at the end of the first half including a 48-yard Hail Mary to Darreus Rogers to close it out. Javorius Allen and Justin Davis each ran for scores from 17 and 21 yards out, respectively, in the fourth. 
    What Else? Penalties: USC 14 for 124 yards – Oregon State 13 for 107 yards 
    – USC QB Cody Kesler completed 24-of-32 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns 
    – Oregon State QB Sean Mannion completed 15-of-32 passes for 123 yards and two interceptions
    – USC RB Javorius Allen ran 20 times or 115 yards and a score
