    And You Care Because … William Stanback ran for a four-yard score in overtime to give UCF the lead, and BYU couldn’t answer with its fourth down throw into the end zone misfiring. In a game of runs, UCF got up 10-0 in the first helped by a five-yard run from Justin Holman, and then it was all BYU with 24 straight points on three Christian Stewart touchdown passes, with two to Devin Mahina from 15 and 14 yards out,, and a 32-yard Trevor Samson field goal. UCF rallied back with a second Stanback touchdown run and a 37-yard Josh Reese scoring grab, but after tying it, the Knights couldn’t win in regulation with Shawn Moffitt missing a 46-yard field goal and getting his 50-yarder blocked with four seconds to play. 
    What Else? BYU QB Christian Stewart completed 22-of-37 passes for 153 yards and three scores with a pick, and ran 13 times for 52 yards 
    – UCF LB Terrance Plummer made 17 tackles with a sack, 4.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble 
    – UCF QB Justin Holman completed 30-of-51 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions 
    – Turnovers: UCF 4 – BYU 2

    Oct. 11 Houston 28, at Memphis 24 
    And You Care Because … Houston bounced back from a 21-14 halftime deficit scoring on a three-yard Ryan Jackson run and a 25-yard Markeith Ambles touchdown grab in the second half. Memphis pulled within four on a 31-yard Jake Elliott field goal, but the O couldn’t get any closer turning it over twice in the final minutes. Greg Ward Jr., making his first start at quarterback for the Cougars, ran for a 64-yard score to help battle a big first half from Paxton Lynch, who threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score for the Tigers. However, three picks turned out to be a killer. 
    What Else? Turnovers: Memphis 5 – Houston 3 
    – Houston QB Greg Ward Jr. completed 14-of-25 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown with an interception, and led the team with 95 rushing yards and a score on 17 carries 
    – Memphis QB Paxton Lynch completed 26-of-37 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns with a rushing touchdown and three interceptions 
    – Total yards: Memphis 368 – Houston 354

    Oct. 11 at Temple 35, Tulsa 24 
    And You Care Because … Temple rallied in the fourth quarter on two P.J. Walker touchdown passes, hitting Jalen Fitzpatrick on a 30-yard play for the lead, and a 20-yard play to Jahad Thomas to put it away. Walker also ran for a touchdown for the owls, and Kenneth Harper and Connor Reilly added short scoring runs, but two turnovers proved to be costly as Tulsa stayed alive on two Dane Evans touchdown passes and two Zack Langer field goals. But the Owls took control in the fourth quarter. 
    What Else? Time of possession: Tulsa 36:34 – Temple 23:26 
    – Temple QB P.J. Walker completed 15-of-31 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns with a pick, and ran for a touchdown 
    – Tulsa RB Zack Langer ran 30 times for 113 yards and a touchdown 
    – Temple RB Jahad Thomas ran 14 times for 152 yards, and caught a 20-yard touchdown pass. Jalen Fitzpatrick (107) and Jamie Gilmore (100) each hit the 100-yard mark.

    Oct. 11 East Carolina 28, at USF 17 
    And You Care Because … The Pirates overcame a sluggish start to roar back in the second half, scoring 21 unanswered points with Marquez Grayson and Breon Allen each running for touchdowns and Anthony Scott putting the game away on a 20-yard dash. USF got up on a 51-yard Andre Davis touchdown catch in the first, and a 13-yard Marlon Mack run in the second, but Shane Carden found Breon Allen for a 35-yard score to stay alive going into the locker room. Then the offense woke up. 
    What Else? Penalties: East Carolina 12 for 148 yards – USF 8 for 59 yards 
    – East Carolina QB Shane Carden completed 24-of-33 passes for 240 yards and a touchdown with an interception 
    – East Carolina WR Justin Hardy caught ten passes for 114 yards 
    – USF QB Mike White completed 21-of-41 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown with an interception

    Oct. 11 at Miami 55, Cincinnati 34 
    And You Care Because … Duke Johnson tore off an 80-yard touchdown run on Miami’s first play from scrimmage, and Brad Kaaya threw three touchdown passes finding Phillip Dorsett from 28 and 79 yards away. The defense got into the act with a 46-yard Tyriq McCord 46-yard interception return for a score on the way to a 41-13 Hurricane lead going into the fourth, and Kaaya put the game well out of reach with a one-yard scoring run in the fourth. 
    What Else? Total yards: Miami 621 – Cincinnati 422 
    – Miami RB Duke Johnson became the school’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards. He ran ten times for 162 yards and a touchdown 
    – Cincinnati QB Gunner Kiel completed 31-of-57 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions 
    – Penalties: Miami 13 for 155 yards – Cincinnati 5 for 54 yards

    Oct. 11 at Tulane 12, Connecticut 3 
    And You Care Because … UConn scored first on a 44-yard Bobby Puyol field goal midway through the first, and then the Tulane defense took over with three takeaways and a safety. Nick Montana and the Green Wave offense did enough to get by, with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Charles Jones and leading to a 38-yard Andrew DiRocco field goal in the fourth. 
    What Else? Total yards: Tulane 302 – Connecticut 217 
    – Tulane QB Nick Montana completed 19-of-26 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown 
    – Connecticut QB Chandler Whitmer completed 17-of-24 passes for 141 yards 
    – Turnovers: Connecticut 3 – Tulane 0
