Though the Gonzaga Bulldogs were projected to be the clear favorite in the West Coast Conference for the 2015-16 season, it’s the Saint Mary’s Gaels that hold the No. 1 seed in the WCC Tournament. This, thanks to becoming one of the premier offensive threats in the nation.
The Gaels have formed a balanced attack when the rock is in their hands and it has paid off tremendously for Randy Bennett’s squad.
But that doesn’t mean Saint Mary’s is an easy lock to win the West Coast Conference. With players like Kyle Wiltjer, Domantas Sabonis, Kyle Collinsworth, and Stacy Davis in the fold, it’s virtually anyone’s game in the WCC Tournament.
At this point, though, it’s looking like the WCC will be a one-bid league for the Big Dance, meaning that whoever wins the WCC Tournament will likely be the only school representing the WCC come March Madness.
Note that Pacific, the newest member of the West Coast Conference, will not be participating in any postseason tournaments after a self-imposed ban came into effect due to academic misconduct allegations.
With that in mind, here’s how this year’s WCC Tournament has shaped up.
