What a way for P.J. Fleck and the Broncos to open the season. It’ll be considered an upset when a MAC team beats a Big Ten squad on the road, but Western Michigan proved quickly it belonged on the same field with Northwestern. And Fleck showed why he’s likely going to be one of the most sought-after coaches in the country.  
The Broncos shouldn’t have much trouble continuing their moment when North Carolina Central visits. The Eagles were crushed 49-6 at Duke last week.

What To Know About Western Michigan

The Broncos showed why they’re the MAC favorites with the 22-21 win at Northwestern. They trailed in every quarter, only to fight back and take the lead. Jamauri Bogan’s 1-yard run gave them the last lead they’d need before forcing Wildcats quarterback Clayton Thorson to fumble as he dove for the end zone with less than two minutes left. Bogan rushed for 103 yards, but Corey Davis remains the Broncos’ top offensive weapon after catching seven passes for 70 yards.

What to Know About North Carolina Central

The Eagles have a lot of work to do offensively. They totaled 112 yards in the loss to Duke and turned the ball over twice. One came on an interception from Malcolm Ball, who competed just 7 of 25 for 74 yards. North Carolina Central won’t have it much easier this week.

It’s just not going to happen. Davis might not reach 200 yards only because the game will be so out of hand that Fleck will stop throwing the ball.
