The WKU 2016 football schedule has a slew of rough road dates and not enough key Conference USA games at home. There can’t be any mistakes against the mediocre teams.

Non-Conference Games: at Alabama, at Miami University, Vanderbilt, Houston Baptist
Games vs. the West: Rice, at Louisiana Tech, North Texas
– The Hilltoppers might have to rebuild a little bit, but they have to hit the ground running with a Conference USA date with Rice at home.
– At least the game with the Owls is against the West, but having to go to Louisiana Tech is a problem. The other interdivisional date is against North Texas – that has to be a layup.
– Unfortunately, the week off comes late in the year, meaning WKU starts out the season with 11 straight games. On the plus side, the time off comes before the East showdown. The other bad news? It’s on the road at Marshall.
– There’s a rough stretch in the middle of the season with three road games in four weeks, going to Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee and Florida Atlantic, with the home date at Old Dominion.
– WATCH OUT FOR … the home date against Vanderbilt. A home win over an SEC team would be a huge boost early on this year after going on the road to face Alabama (loss) and Miami University (must win).
2017 Non-Conference Games: Eastern Kentucky, at Illinois, Ball State, at Vanderbilt
